In the year 1543, Nicolaus Copernicus published his Earth shattering De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolution of the Celestial Spheres) and changed the entire conception of the world we live in. Copernicus developed a model of the universe that placed the Sun at the center of those revolutions as opposed to the Earth. This was in direct opposition to the accepted dogma put forth by the Catholic church which refused to even discuss it for nearly six decades after Copernicus had died. It took close to two hundred years for his work to truly affect the world, but when it did, it upset every aspect of conscious life. This effect is known as Post-Copernican shock and it still affects our every day lives to the present day.
Following the realization that humanity is but “an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star,” the entire social climate changed (Hawking 1). No longer was nature viewed as the Mother of her children. Man felt he must conquer nature before she conquers him, and this new atmosphere produced the Industrial Revolution hand in hand with the Empiricist Scientific Revolution. Here deconstructionism took the driver’s seat and everything in this world was now seen as stuff made up of more stuff. We broke this stuff down and down and down until we arrived at atoms and particles. But these changes weren’t limited to society at large. In addition, it deeply affected the consciousness of human beings resulting in a rampant shift to anthropocentrism (focus on the individual self and personality).
This anthropocentric shift had some peculiar effects. Before the Copernican Revolution, human consciousness was characterized by a most curious phenomena known as participation mystique. This peculiar quality was distinguished by collective, shared visions among individuals within a group. For example, pretend you lived in a period of history preceding Copernican Shock. You’re sitting at home with your friend and suddenly your friend jumps out of his chair, face white and hands shaking, and starts screaming: “A ghost! A ghost!” You look over to where he is pointing and sure enough- there’s a ghost in the room! Every person that enters into the room, once informed of the present of this spirit would see the ghost as well. This phenomena explains a lot when you consider accounts of dealing with the gods in the Ancient world, like when Egyptian statues would animate and the gods would take their form. Everyone in the temple would witness this and agree that this happened. They’d see the same vision and hear the same words. This phenomena explains most of what we now commonly refer to as Pagan and Tribal superstitions for which we mock the Ancient world from our pedestal of “superior knowledge.”
But what happened is, following the Copernican Revolution, participation mystique was turned inward in what Jung believes to have manifested as neurosis. The people who were once considered to be holy men and women for their sensitivity to otherworldly dimensions were now labelled as psychologically sick. If you think again of the above scenario and place it in our modern setting, you’d be more than likely to suggest your friend find a shrink or maybe try to have him locked up. You’d probably believe that what your friend is tuning into must be a problem going on inside of him as opposed to seeing him as sensitive to the actual Astral environment. Due to this collective anthropocentric movement, we commonly came to believe that our own personal consciousness can only take place within the semi-permeable membrane of our skin, and more specifically, that is located in our brains. We began to believe that “man is an island,” although this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Now the Scientific Revolution was chugging along, full steam ahead, when all of a sudden it hit the sublime wall in its manifestation of Einstein and Theory of Relativity- followed by Uncertainty, Quantum Mechanics, String Theory, etc., etc. These micro-particles we believed to be stuff, actually were made up of a singular substance now referred to as energy. Through E=MC squared, we learn that matter is, in fact, just energy slowed down in its motion. Now although we’ve all memorized this equation when we were children and filed it away under a folder marked “important,” it is only now that we are beginning to see the psychological effects of this discovery manifesting within our psyche (just as how there was a delayed effect of anthropocentrism nearly 200 years following Copernicus).
The greatest minds of our times have predicted that the next era of our modern world will be classified by what they are terming Neo-feudalism. Even Stephen Hawking declared that we have less than a hundred years left upon the Earth. NASA predicts a total Class-R collapse of our society within the next 150 years. And we can’t forget the fact that our country is ruled by an egomaniacal charlatan. But we know something that they do not.
The generation of “millenials” or by my preference, Starseeds, are about to rise. For decades we’ve listened to our parents preach the American dream, stability and duty… chalk full of flowery words, while these hypocrites spent their time rampantly cheating on one another, divorcing each other, tearing our homes apart, devastating our environment and swallowing all of the jobs in the economy due to their inability to hold on to their money. To top it off, they then have the audacity to scoff us for our inability to put together the broken pieces of a world they destroyed. But there’s something that they’ve failed to see in us. The inner neuroses and egoism that ruled their generation was seen for what it was. We all had front row tickets to their mad-circus… and we emphatically declared: FUCK THAT!
For the last couple of decades, we went to work. But not in the way they wanted us to. Instead, we marched straight up to the gates of the Underworld and demanded our passage through. Those inner neuroses (or demons) that have been haunting the collective psyche for generations demanded transmutation. So we stood up to the task, wand, cup, sword and pentacle in hand. We began to unlock hidden gifts and hidden mysteries. We started to unravel the keys of the universe. We still believed in the false notion of “man as an island,” and we thought ourselves alone in our journey. But as we emerged from the depths of the inner world, philosopher’s stone acquired, we looked around and realized something incredibly beautiful- We are not alone, but, in fact, as innumerable as the sands of the Ganges.
We’ve uncovered the truth about consciousness… about the SELF. We’ve lifted the veil upon that Ancient wisdom that established the glory of Atlantis, the magnificence of Egypt and the might of Rome. We are stepping forth into a new world- one that moves and changes with the subtle vibrations of our minds. And it is now, from that sure foundation, we step forward to claim our victory.
The truth about the self is:
0. All the power that ever was or will be is here now.
- I am a center of expression of the Cosmic Will-To-Good, that eternally creates and sustains the Universe.
- Through me Its unfailing Wisdom takes form in my thought and words.
- Filled with Understanding of its perfect law, I am guided moment by moment along the Path of Liberation.
- From the exhaustless riches of Its Limitless Substance, I draw all things needful, both spiritual and material.
- I recognize the manifestation of Its undeviating Justice in all the circumstances of my life.
- In all things, great and small, I see the beauty of the divine expression.
- Living through that Will, supported by its unfailing Wisdom and Understanding, mine is the victorious life.
- I look forward with confidence to the perfect realization of the Eternal Splendor of the Limitless Light.
- In thought and word and deed, I rest my life, day to day, upon the sure Foundation of Eternal Being.
- The Kingdom of Spirit is embodied in my flesh.
And as these truths continue to vibrate through us, over and again; gaining momentum with every breath, pulsing with magick force through every thought and word, the WORD will soon become our word. And from Its strength, we will build the City of Pyramids.
